Does anyone know how to remove the traction belts from a MF 525 (or 400 or 500 series all the same I think). Mine are at full adjustment and starting to flap. Still have OSR and wheat to cut yet!
Thanks for looking and hope you can help.

I"m not sure exactly what a 525 is. If it is the same as the 410 through 550, the procedure is as follows. Put the variable speed about 1/2 int he m iddle of its travel. Loosen the two set screws on the transmission shifting tube so that it won"t bind when the trans. is lifted. Loosen the two bolts on the left hand side of the transmission where it pivots and one on the right side. There is a jam nut and then a nut on the top side of the belt tensioning rod on the transmission. Run these nuts up, and then turn the nut on the on the bottom of the tensioning rod up to lift the transmission. You should now be able to get the belt off of the transmission. Loosen the two bolts that hold the variator in place and slide it forward out of its slots in the fork and then slip the belts off.

Thanks for that. That sounds straight forward, for some reason I thought it was going to be more complicated. Mike
