massey 65 diesel engine number

I'm trying to get a rebuild kit for my grandfathers massey 65 diesel. The dealer wants the engine number. They said it would be on the valvecover, on a tag. I did't see anything there, but I did find a number stamped into the left rear side of the block near the head. The number is CL 2800979. Does this sound like an engine number? Thanks.

The CL2800979 is the engine serial number.

So that would be what i need to tell the dealer to get the correct rebuild kit then?
