I have a MF285 that has been sitting up for four or five years. Got it started and ran it for about 45 minutes. Checked oil and engine is full of diesel. Anyone have any ideas on what is wrong?

Probably the lift pump, you can get a new one at the dealer. While you're at it get new fuel filters as you'll have to bleed the system anyway.

You'll need to bleed it all the way through the injection pump more than likely.

Hello,
There are two possibilities, one more likely than the other.
The most likely one is the diaphragm in the fuel lift pump has perished and is allowing disel to run into the sump (oil Pan).
The second, but unlikely unless the engine has done high hours is that fuel is leaking through the front seal in the main fuel pump. This will involve an overhaul of the pump.
If it is the lift pump, repair kits are available or replace the complete item.
If you need any help in replacing please contact me.
