MF 65 won't start

I have a MF 65 that was running and I shut it off went to restart and it was dead as a doornail. I have replaced most of the wiring, the ignition switch and push button. I can jump it across the small post and battery post and it will crank and run as long as I don't remove the jump. After jumping it will turn over a time or two, but won't start. The lights won't come on or anything.
Anybody have any ideas? Could it be the voltage regulator? I'm at a loss.
Thanks Steve

Be real careful doing that "jumping" around the saftey devices. Heard of a fellow standing in front of the rear tire, using a starter jump, that got killed because he wired around the transmission shifter safety switch. Tom

i"d suggest you check the wiring coming from the battery to the ammeter, and from the amp meter to the ignition switch, and to the light switch. I bet the problem is lurking in that area, since it won"t crank and not even lights will come on.

hope this helps some.

I had that happen on a farmall. It turned out to be a wire was loose on the alternator. The wire was still attached but was very loose and not sending a charge to the battery. I tightened it and changed the battery since it was drained completely down and has been working good ever since.

check for compresson leaks around the fire caps on the head they have three nuts on studs holding the four caps on to the side of the head they are right under the injectors on the head they have copper ring shaped seals around them and sometimes they push them out i hope this helps

Have you replaced the start relay. Sounds like its not pulling in all the way.
