i had my massey 44 gas running just fine after cleaning up the carb and then it stopped. I can't start it. It just won't fire at all. I took the carb apart again and everything looks excellent. Where is a good starting point Should i replace the coil? help me with this

Step by step: 1. Fire yes or no; 2. fuel to carb yes or no; 3. carb blockage. (Assuming compression and air input.) Start by finding out if you have fire to the plugs. Pull a plug wire and using a screw driver to ground it a half inch or so from a ground and see if you have a blue spark. (I like to use one of those visual spark wires you can buy for $5 from the discount tool places, as it's safer and you can check it without having someone else present to help.) If spark is not good, look at the ignition as likely source of your problem. If that's the case, check the points and the wiring first and especially the ignition switch. The coil doesn't usually go bad when it is cold. If all else fails and you just can't find it, it might be the condensor. If you have good spark, pull the gas line and make sure you have good fuel flow to the carb. If fuel doesn't flow out of the line like a man peeing, you probably have a filter blocked. If you have spark and if you are getting fuel to the carb, then likely you still have a blockage somewhere in the carb. (I'm assuming you have compression and good air input.) Hope that helps.

Ignition parts are available here or at your local NAPA store or other mail order or AGCO dealers. The latter is my last choice from my experience with my local AGCO guys, but your experience with your dealer may be different. If you have NAPA handy, that is a good choice as you can easily exchange it or return it if it is wrong part. Harbour Freight and Northern Tool sell the "dongle" spark plug inserts that allow you to see the firing. It is essentially a short wire that inserts between the plug wire end and the plug and has a flashing light when firing. But a screwdriver works, if you have someone to help.
