We just bought an old Massey Harris Ferg. tractor which need some tlc. However, need to know what year it is so we can begin to get some parts.

Here is a short discription of what I see:

- front and back rims look like the mid-50's Ford type
- the distributor is on center left side
- the oil filter, and cover, angle up on the right side
- there is only one filler hole for tranny, hydr., and rear axle fluid.
- the carb looks like the one on my Ford Jubilee
- while there are 3 forward shifts and one reverse, there is an extra lever which I assume is to shift in to high or low gears.

That' all I can up with. Hope someone can direct me in the right direction. Thank you in advance for you assistance.. Davidz

The serial number is on a 2'' x 3'' metal tag some where on the dash depending which model it is where on the dash it is located. There is a lot of them the tag has been remove for one reason or the other. I have been told that http://montesequipment.com/ can tell you when the engine was made from the engine serial number that will get you close if your serial number tag is missing

Big Dean, found tag in reply to Big Dean, 07-01-2006 07:55:31

Deanl, there is a tag on the dash and reads 183566, and I am assuming that is the serial number. Based on that and what I have seen on this site, it is a 1958 Massey. Right????

There is some other info. on the tag, once I clean it up and can see it better, what else should be on it??? Thanks for your kind response. David

In front of the serial number you may have three letters like 'SGF' or 'SGM.' If so, probably you have a TO-35, and the third letter tells you whether you have the two stage clutch for live PTO or not. "M" would indicate the two stage clutch.
