Howdy guys,
Now that I have the engine off my baby (MF165) tractor, I'm looking at the clutch. What parts should I go ahead and replace now that the tractor is split and how thick should the lining be on the main clutch disc? Right now, it appears to be about 1/8 inch on each side before it bottoms out the "indicator" holes.
'Preciate it.
Matt

Read big Deans instructions on splitting and clutches. If you replace parts he says to use a complete kit etc.

Hey Smokey,
Thanks for the tip, but I could not find that article and with my internet speed, I could be up all night looking for it.

I do have Big Dean"s 100 series CD (and it"s GREAT, BTW), but could not find any mention of the acceptable thickness of the clutch disc. I could just take it over to the dealer to look at, but lately his parts have been running 50% higher than online sources(and I have a LOT of parts to buy for this thing!). I"ll go ahead and replace the bearings, etc...., but I"d hate to pay $90.00 for a clutch disc I don"t need. Anybody know the ideal lining thickness?
Many thanks.

We replace if the linings are getting down to 1/64 above the rivet heads.

If they are thicker, we will get 4 or more years out of it - unless we get an operator who uses the clutch pedal for a footrest!

Thanks Jack. Guess I'm in good shape then. Now just gotta find an affordable block and oil pan....
