Hey guys.
Still trying to decide what to do with my blown 203 in my MF165. Waiting for word from machine shop as to what is salvagable (if anything). One salvage guy says be can get a BRAND NEW AD4.236 from Alabama (complete with head, pan, and fuel pump, oil pump, etc)and that it will "bolt right on" (I always cringe when I hear that phrase.) Another guy says probably not. Who's right? My Massey is a later model, built in '72 or '73.
Many thanks,
Matt

I was waiting for some one to answer that had done it to reply. With my limited research the 236 will bolt to transmission case. A d236 will bolt to a 212 gas front support but not to a 203.I was researching this to replace a weak 212 gas with a 236 diesel, but have not done it yet. david

Hi David,
Thanks for the reply. So, from what you know, it will probably bolt to the 165 tranny but not to the front end? Hmmm.Guess I need to get back with the salvage guy who says it will work and see if he knows any real-life examples.
Matt

Will look at my brothers 175 this week and see if it looks different from my 165. Think our 165 gas 212 has the same mounting for front support. Sheet metal ,fuel tank and clutch are the same on all three tractors as we have replaced or exchanged them over the past 35 years. david

Thanks David. Replacing the engine is my last resort, but it may come to that if the machine shop says my block, crank, and head are bad. I"ll know this week.
