I need some help on the restoration of a 44-6cyl. Mainly I need a contact for some parts and where I can get decals for it. The tractor I have is pretty much complete. However, I'm possibly looking for 1 headlight to replace the one that is currently pointed to the rear of the tractor, an oil gauge, and a dash light. I was looking on ebay, but I couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance for any help given.

When buying an original oil gauge you need to tell them it is for the 44-6. They carry less oil pressure then the 4 cyl models and you can get the gauge for the lower pressure readings.

Maple Hunter for decals. Its where most decals come from anyway. Riley,In. 765-932-2027 or 812-894-9759
Have gotten a lot of parts from Terry Kessel,Gardners, Pa. [email protected]
Kevin Youngquist,Kensington,Ks for grille screens and other repro sheet metal parts 785-476-2269
www.montesequipment.com,Chicago,Il. for Contental engine parts
brillman.com for high quality restoration wiring. I have dealt with all of the above and all are a.o.k by me.
Some nos parts are still available from Massey Ferguson dealers
Can't help you with the headlight.Maybe Fred Wolfe has one.Do a google to get his address.Think he is located in Wisconsin.
What year and model is your 44-6? I have a 1947 44-6 row crop that I am doing a bolt by bolt restoration on.

I have no idea what year the one we have is. The 44-6 we have is in good shape and doesn't need much work and there is a show featuring massey harris locally I believe in August so I would like to get it done before them. Thanks for your replies. Actually I do have another question. How hard is it to get the axle hubs off. Most of our other tractors are olivers and I know how to handle them, but I'm not too familiar with massey's setup. If I'm going to paint the tractor I think I'm going to replace the rear axle seals if I can.

Hubs can be easy or next to impossible to remove. If they are really tough, take the half off that will seperate and turn them so you can soak them with penetrating oil in the little axle snap ring grooves, every time you go by the tractor try driving them off with a real large mall. I hope yours come off with a little less trouble. David B
