Anyone know how to get more power out of pony engine? Want to build a pulling tractor for 2000Lb Class.

You might want to look at the massey pacer same tractor with a y91 cont. engine has three mains and more horse power.

Not to discourage, but I agree with jjcomp77, I just don't think you can do it with the current engine, you would have to mod something in there other than a N62. Only two main bearings, and how tiny everything is, is sure to break something.

I knew a guy who did some custom work on Allis G tractors.. they use the N62 continental engine in a different block design than the pony.

He had come up with a higher compression head modification... I'm guessing that probably squeaked perhaps a couple/three hp out.. but??? I don't see that engine as a powerhouse.. Even if you did other things like jimmied the governor a bit.. etc.. I'm sure the % returns on a 10ish hp engine are.. well... just plain small no matter what you do to it.

I guess if yuo had a friend that was a machinish and enough cash to fill a small hol ein your backyard.. you could do all the hotrod tricks.. like porting.. and relieving.. head work.. exhaust work.. performance cam grind..perhaps custom overbore and new domed pistons.. and heck.. you could probably find a small turbo to hang on there.. or checvy smogpump supercharger rube goldberg setup.... that.. and adjusting the revs.. but at what expense? Even if you got a massive 40% power boost.. you are still in lawnmower hp range... I guess it all boils down to how fast your wallet is... to borrow a term from a ford N list member..

I don't think it's a good idea because it only has 2 mains, front and back, the crank will probably break.
