How hard is it to replace a clutch on a 44 special (gas). Any techniques or advice would be appreciated as would any clue where to get the parts needed.
Thanks in advance.

do as chuck said but you don't have to pull engine just did a plane 44 and did't even take the gas tank off . just pull bolts for mounts front and rear and like he said if the shimes fall out get them back in the right order. i can change a clutch in about half the time by not pulling the motor but if you pull it it's a good way to get to know your tractor better both ways get it done

You must remove engine. Start by removing the hood
grill and radiator. Disconnect all wires, rods,
cables, and tubing. Disconnect coupling by drive
shaft. Attach hoist, remove engine mount bolts,
slide eng slightly ahead to free from coupling and
lift out. Then you can remove clutch hsg..One very
important note. There are shims on the front eng.
mount-keep those in the same order(important).
