There is a small line that runs from the crankcase [by the hydrolic pump] to the top of hydrolic resevoir I am guessing is a breather line. Is there any chance of hydrolic oil getting into the engine? Should I be using engine oil in the hydrolic system? The tractor Is a MH 444. Thanks Dale

Yes,it is a vent line but you would have to pressureize the tank somehow to get oil into the engine.(you have to run the tank over)The oper.manual says to use 10WT.premium motor oil,we always used 20Wt.There is a later notice that says to use TYPE A AUTOTRANSMISSION oil but not HYD. oil.Hope this answers your question.

thanks for the input. I've just about got a complete 444 Just need a few more parts and hopefuly I can get around to painting it. I want to run it good before so I can look for leaks and problems before I dissassemble it. Finding a good hydrolic selector valve up by the steering wheel seems to be a little hard to find.
