Ichanged the oil filter and cleaned the oil sump before using tractor this spring. Now the oil sprays out the top of the filter housing. I do not have a spin on conversion. I tried another "o" ring from the next filter and it held for minutes then sprayed oil all the way to the clutch pedal! Can anyone help please?

Should have mentioned, I have a gas Z134 engine. If you don't, may be a different problem.

Is it leaking between the canister and the block or around the bolt at the top of the canister? According to the parts book there is supposed to be a gasket under the bold head. If you mean the big o-ring is leaking at the block, I also had a terrible time getting this to seal. I was using a 'three pack' of filters from an online vender and the rings provided where terrible quality. I couldnt get them to seal for very long either. I finally went to NAPA and got a filter there (its a 1010 Gold) and the rubber ring was much better. Rubber was a little stiffer and it fit better to. Sealed it up on the first attempt. Hope this helps.

Thank you Dan, your problem is exactly what i have. The tri-pack of filters and gaskets seem to be the problem! Thanks for the tip at NAPA, you saved alot of work for me!
