I posted before about a MF135 with three point hitch that went up when the tractor was started, would not respond to the controls and went down when tractor was shut off. Big Dean you said to pull the side cover off which I did, I could see the levers moving but it appeared something was missing. I pushed the lever which went down into the pump and it fell off.. oh boy. I drained the case and down in the bottom I could see the hydraulic filter all chewed up laying up against one of the gears and shafts. I pulled the top cover off and there is a bushing which has slide back out of the hydrualic pump and the two pins which go through the side of the case (and are held in with two studs) are broken off so the pump is kinda floating where ever it wants to. I also found some other pieces of broken cast which I have not been able to find where they came from yet. The tractor went fine but there was a thump from inside it, I suspect now from the bushing and broken pins which held the pump. Now the question.. what"s the best route from this point? Rebuilt pump and put it all back together? It appears you have to split the machine and slide the pump out the front is that the case? I have seen pumps online but not the pins which go through the case and hold it, are they avalible? Thanks in advance Dave

Ok, I got the pump out of the housing today. The bushing has slid down the shaft out of the housing which I think was caused by the side pins being broken and the pump hoping up and down. The pump housing is broken where one of the guide pins goes in, not the entire depth of the hole but about a 1/4 inch worth. I'm doing some more reading but it looks like it does use the same pump as the 165 depending on the time of production. I may try and fix my pump first. WillyN can you email me on where you are and how much you would want for the parts you have? Thanks

Dave

What I quoted you was everything to put the pump on the tractor not just the pump in the middle but the whole assembley all together ready to go in. Mark H.

Somebody else had a similar problem and Big Dean's response was that a PTO shaft was fitted and it was to long and had forced the rear shaft forward pushing the pump. This seems like a possibility. - forgive me Big Dean if I got these words of wisdom wrong.

If it is a Orchard Model I have all the parts you need to fix it from the transmission back including a pump that is good. The Orchard Model is the one with the 165 Rear tho on the 135 front. Mark H.

Oh dear! But the job may not be as bad as it looks. Many spares are avialable for the pumps, including castings, and complete pumps also. And you remove/replace it simply through the lift cover hole at the top of the trans box - no need to split the tractor. You'll possibly need a manual, but basic steps are: remove PTO shaft out the rear of trans case. Inside trans box, there is a collar over the main drive shaft with split pin thru it. Remove split pin, slide collar along and off its shafts. Now you have space to remove pump (and debris).

Others more experienced than me on this board can help with further details.

Before doing the replacement, it would be worth trying to establish why the locator pins got sheared in the first place - Big Dean or others can no doubt suggest possibles.

It's not so bad. Good luck
David
