I got some 7 core heavy duty trailer cable from the local truck shop and used this to fabricate a new loom. Cannot remember the size but I think the heavy duty stuff was twice the size/price as the other stuff and I think I bought 2 meters which gave me enough wire to wire up the engine and meters using an alternater with a built in regulator. An extra 20 amp cable is good to hook up from the output of the alternator as this needs to take extra current. Remember to fit appropriate fuses to the cable as the original loom is deficient in this regard.

I soldered all terminals on and covered them with a little piece of heat shrink tube to give a profesional finish.

Hope this is of some help.
