need help on timing 101sen 226 con motor

hi im not sure if i have got this motor timed right or not it will run fine at a idol but when i give it gas or throtle at half speed i have to have the choke out i have had the carb apart a dozen times and it seems to be ok it has a scheibler borg warner carb on it there was to dots on the cam and one dot on the crank the one dot lines up between the to dots and the piston on top dead center but i was told that that could be wrong that there was a different sequence to go thrugh with the fly wheel any help would be appreciated thanks lighting 88
