Hi everyone,

I am in the middle of doing work on the MF-65 PTO output shaft and would like to replace the ball bearing just in front of the shaft seal. My one feels a bit loose and since I have everything out anyway, I would renew this bearing. I have just returned from the local MF dealer with most of the parts I need except this bearing.

Does anyone know the part number is or, more specifically, what the bearing designation is e.g. is it a 6206 2RS or what ever. The dealer did not have one and would order one in for me, but that would take about a week and would be about $50. If I can get the bearing number, then I should be able to get it at our local bearing supply house (BC Bearings)for bout half tht price.

I have drained and flushed the transmission using diesel. The inside of the gear housing now looks new. The seal I have is a little different to the one I will be replacing - doesn't have the metal shroud or the extra leather wiper ring. Parts came apart easily, but the cover (1/8" thick) plate is almost rusted through. Am renewing the four studs, nuts, cover plate and two countersunks screws. Everything was/is badly corroded so new will be better.

If anyone has the bearing number I would really appreciate getting it.

Thanks in advance.

John

Hi John,

My parts book for UK built MF 65 says 195 498 M1, as Chuck says.
The equivalent bearing number for this is:
6009 NR The NR indicates the ring.

Hope this helps.

Bill

Hi again,

Measurements and data for the 6009 bearing is:

45 mm inner dia.
75 mm outer dia.
16 mm width.
max speed = 11000 rpm in oil
max speed = 9000 rpm in grease
max static load = 12200 N
max dynamic load = 21200 N
weight of bearing = 0.25 kg.

(SKF data)

Bill :-)

With the MF part no. of 195498 M1 any Brg house or
parts house worth it's name can cross this as easily as a Brg mfg no. This Brg no. is for the
the rear side of PTO shaft and has a snap ring on
the outer circumference. Just double checking!!
Good luck, Chuck

Hi all,

After posting the above message I went down to the shop, answered my own question and took the bearing off of the shaft. I was surprised that the bearing was loose fit on the collar and one of the snaprings (outer one) looks like it should be 1/8" thick. The one I took off was about 2/3 of that. So, it looks like the person who was in the transmission last, either didn't care or used what he had on hand.

I got a number off of the bearing and it is XM45 SG
on outer race, XM45 on inner race, made by F.B.C. made in UK. The approximate dimensions are:
1.771" I.D.
2.954" O.D.
0.630" Thickness.
It is a deep groove, single row, ball bearing, open both sides.
I say approximate - the bearing was quite loose on the shaft, so I don't really know if it is the correct one or the closest one to the correct one! This tractor is a '58 so it has probably had a lot of people working on it, not all of 'em good.

The above is the information I have managed to get. If someone out there has more info, then please post it.

HTH someone else.

J.
