Hello Roy . Daivd broad here . In response to your reply in reguards to my question about the 1080 . When you mention the 1085 . Are you saying that that model was also built in france and was available in the UK ? Only I always thought that the 1085 was only made and sold in the USA and Canada and after the 1080 we only had the 595 . Let me know thaks David [email protected]

Hi David,
Actually, maybe I could have phrased that comment a little better. I was refering to the fact that the French built 1080 (not 1085) had a poor reputation over here. As you so rightly said, the 1085 was not available here as far as I know. The 595 was a dog( until I believe it was replaced by the 595 mk 2 which, I am told was better )My neighbour had a 4 wheel drive 595 mk1. The driver was telling me that when pulling a set of Cambridge rolls (it was 3 rolls, 1 8 foot roll and 2 4 foot rolls, one either side of the 8 footer ; something a MF165 would have no problem with ) in light land, if he dis-engaged the drive to the front wheels "The bloody thing just sat there and scratched!"
Regards, Roy

Qute right when I worked for a M-F dealer in the UK I remember cracked cylinder heads and cylinder blocks were common place, the Mk2 was a great improvement but too late by the time it came out, the 595 became the 698. As the foreman in the workshop said at the time "Only 2 good things ever came from France boy, dirty movies and those little maids with the feather dusters!"
