Hello . Somthing that I have often wondered about . It is common knowledge that the french built MF 595 was a desaster from start to finnish with so many problems that there would just not be enough space to list them all . It came out in 1975 to succeed the MF 1085 . Now if this is the case just waht was the 1085 like ? Was it just as bad ? Does any body know ? While on this subject , the 1085 was built both in France from what I believe to be 1970 , and in the USA from 1967 . Was there reliability any different ? In the USA of coures they did not have the 595 . But which those in the USA will know was waht they did have was the 1085 coming on to the market in 1973 and was suppsed to be there equivelant to the Europe built 595 . can any body say how reliable that was ? Thnaks David

The 1085 was the replacement model for the French built 1080 which had a terrible reputation here, underpowered and unreliable.

We sold a few of the MF1085 at the dealership where I was a mechanic. They had some head gasket problems with the early ones but once they changed the gasket and switch from cap screws to studs that fix that problem. That was really the only problems we had with them.
