I have always had to reverse the battery in my Pacer so that the ground on the tractor is hooked up to the positive on the battery and vice versa. Is there something I can do to remedy this or is this the way it is with Pacers?

As the service manager at the new car dealership always says when you think you've got a problem with your vehicle, "that's normal". All the old tractors and some road vehicles (eg. My '51 Dodge pickup) were positive ground. I'm not exactly sure when most of them changed over to negative ground, but I've got 2 Massey 101's that are positive ground as well as all my other old stuff. Mind you, Pacers are a bit newer (early 50's right?), but they were probably still positive ground. I asked a question in the tractor talk forum about that a couple of months ago and got some excellent answers and explainations about current flow. Try to search it out in the 'archives', maybe using my name as a key work.
