Old MF 135 Tractor

We have owned this old 135 gas 3cylinder tractor for about a year. Until yesterday the hydraulics worked fine. We turned it off and then upon restarting tractor, neither PTO nor aftermarket front loader would lift. The owners manual gives very little info about the hydraulics, valves, filters, etc. We've done the logical check for leaks, fluid levels, etc.
Can anyone give us info on where to start troubleshooting. Thanks

This has happened to me two times. Far enough apart that I forgot what happened the first time.
The draft and up/down control for three point hitch on the right side of tractor were moved ahead. Levers have to be fully back before my hydraulic controls work. Hope it is this simple!

Does the loader connect to the tractor hyd? Does the tractor have the dual clutch? If so,I would suspect the PTO clutch has failed or is in need of adjustment.

I guess you've already looked at the hydraulic fluid dipstick ? (Rear of starboard floorboard under the 'response' control) ?

In answer to "bbot" fluid level is okay.

If it quit working 'all of a sudden' I thought the fluid level probably would be ok unless you'd sprung a leak somewhere.

From your original post it sounds like the hydraulics aren't even twitching now.

There is a filter inside the tran housing (you access it by removing the top hydraulic cover)that could be plugged... but I wouldn't expect total & sudden failure from them either.. Other possibility is that something has plugged one of the hydraulic ports.. or the pickup line etc...

I guess the next question in line...
is the PTO shaft turning when it should be ?

If it isn't....something has probably come adrift inside the powertrain or the clutch isn't clutching.

If you're going to keep that old girl running, I'd suggest getting a set of manuals from the people that host this board...(if you haven't got some ordered already).

Best luck.

Thanks, a manual is a top priority for us now.
The filter was totally clogged. After it cooled off we did get a little response from Hydraulics, enough to remove implements and move it to a shed where we can work on it.
