I have a MF50 digger same as the 165 fitted with a Perkins 4,212 engine however it is suffering from low oil pressure when warm. The problem is I can`t remove the sump. Having removed all the bolts from underneath and having even slackened off the front axle so it didn`t catch, the sump is hanging rigidly from a point either side of the crank pulley on the block. I cannot find any more bolts to remove, I`am certain it is not attached to the front axle. Does anyone have any ideas? are there any hidden bolts? will I need to remove the front axle as on Fords?

Thanks for any assistance you can give me,
Don.

I know on the gas MH50 it's easier when you loosen slightly (and I do mean slightly) the bolts holding the front axle in order to get the oil pan (sump?) down. Also, I had to run a putty knife between the crankcase and the gasket to loosen it (pry the gasket from the crankcase).

Good luck. Be careful.

Don there are 8 bolts holding the timeing cover to the oil pan on the 212. You can get to them without removing the frontend but it is very hard. I have found it a lot easier to remove the frontend. The gasket is hard to brake loose also.

I don't have my manual here at work but... Are you referring to the removal of the "oil pan" that is hung up in front? I believe there is a bolt on each side by the timing cover area that needs to be removed for the pan to drop. On a 203 engine anyways...

Maybe Big Dean could shed some light.
