I have the low oil pressure after about an hour of use problem, Talked to a MF dealer's mechanic whom told me it is a worn out main bearing and should be rebuilt... he's seen it before. He told me, until I can get it rebuilt, To change the oil to Rotella 15W-40 and add a quart of Slick 50..... Anyone have any experiance with Slick 50 in an old Diesel?

Thanks for you help in advance!

Sorry about that, it is a perkins deisel 1962 MF 203. It does not have a pressure gauge just a meter, start 3/4 into the high range and then, at idel, slips to just below the green.

Thanks for your help!

first the 15-40 oil is what you should be useing [make sure it's for deisel engines ] and the slick 50 will not hurt a thing but it will not fix things also do as supergrumpy said try a better gauge as for the dealer saying it need a rebuild thats jumping the gun. dose it burn oil? how dose it start? how dose it sound?how is the power? i have seen them engines with almost no oil pressure at hight RPMs last for ever

Thanks for advice. The unit start easy, doesn't smoke and runs real strong. If I put the bucket down & lift the front end off the ground I can push the unit with only the rear tires accross the yard and through a 4 foot tall pile of dirt with only about 1/3 throttle. Doesn't ping or nothin, I was just worried about the oil pressure.

The pressure also is ok as long as I don't let it idle.

Thanks for your help... You experianced guys are a life saver!

you might try hooking up a mechanical oil pressure gauge and find out what you are really dealing with, most kits come with plenty of adapters to hook anything to anything

just don't melt the plastic tube

you can unscrew the old sender and hook up the mechanical gauge temporarily using that hole

if you buy a good quality gauge (costs lot more) maybe you would want to keep it installed so use a copper line instead of the cheaper plastic line

or you can tee the old gauge sender and use both

NOTE: if you bleed the air out of the oil line before you cinch things down, you will get better response on your gauge
