I have a 471 with shuttle shift and independent pto. The manual with the tractor says to adjust the yoke on the clutch rod till the distance from the top of the floor board and the top of the clutch pedal is between 6.5" and 7.5". Hope this helps.

As far asa I know the only adjustment is the total travel on the clutch pedal. I too have a 471 and noticed that it had no free play in the adjustment. I asked the service manager and he said that they have no free play and the throwout bearing is running constantly and is lubricated by the hydraulic fluid. I have had no problem since I only have about 68 hours or so but I have noticed that there has been several in the dealership with premature clutch problems. They attirbute this to faulty operators but I wonder! The local Deere dealer has a customer with a 481 with 50 something hours and the clutch has gone out. He said this man has owned many tractors and has not had clutch problems before. How many hours does yours have? I like the 400 series but I have begun to question there quality.
