When I took the spindles out, I could see that the thrust bearings were long since gone, and she has been running metal to metal. The housings are pretty well damaged. I am looking for a good set of spindle housings now, with no luck yet. Does anyone know of a 65 being parted out? I intend to buy the spindles new, but I would like to pay a reasonable price and rebuild a set of used spindle housings, or extensions as some people call them.

I found one spindle housing at a local junkyard, but man!!...I don"t want to pay what they want for it. One of my housing is beat all to ...and I have just started looking for replacements, but I may go the machine shop route too. I am living proof that you should take an experienced person with you when you make your first ever tractor purchase. She runs good and I will only use it for light bushhogging and grading, but the neglect is obvious the more I get into it. So far I have rebuilt brakes, and a new lift cylinder. I had no idea I would run into such an expense on the front end....but I have adopted this machine and I WILL see it through to the end.

I took a light wallet to my first purchase and got exactly what I paid for. I paid 700 and have that much in it already (maybe 2X but don't tell her). It's a work in progress..... I am goig to the machine shop this week to get an estimate. It's gotta be cheaper.

I found guaranteed spindle housings at Worthington Ag parts. The cost for both sides was nearly the same as the local junkyard wanted for a single housing. They are sending me the new spindle and bushing kit too. I would be interested to know what your cost is going to run at the machine shop, Aaron. Two used housing are going to cost me 150 plus shipping.

I found the exact same thing. One side was running metal on metal while on the other side, the bearings had recessed into the spindle support. I am going to take them to my machinist and have them repaired. Used might not be in any better condition. Heck, I thought mine was kosher until I took it apart. Like always, Stephens Farm Equipment in Ripley WV 304-372-5200 is parting out two. Ask for Aaron Ships UPS.

I have extra thrust bearings, but it looks like it all comes in a set with the spindle bushings. I will probably trade them in with other spare parts when I get down to Stephens next week.
