Can not get the sediment bowl on my !974 MF 135 to stop leaking. It is leaking at the gasket/bowl interface. Any ideas or method or suggestions would sure help.

The sediment bowl on my MF65 also leaked badly. After replacing gasket and no improvement, I discovered the diecast pump body surface against which the gasket seals was badly distorted due to overtightening the bowl clamp. I removed the whole pump, held it upside down in a vice, and scraped the sealing surface flat again, using the sharpened end of a triangular file, which improved things but still not fully sealed. Finally managed to seal it completely by applying sealant to the body side of the (new) gasket and not overtightening the clamp.

I just put a new sediment bowl on my MF35- twice
I got one of those $22 ones from TSC what a piece
of crap. It leaked everwhere. Bought one from the
local auto parts store $15 The only place it leaked is where the bowl met the gasket. The screen
inside was too big and the bowl was trying to seal
on the screen.I trimmed the screen just a little
so the bowl sealed on the gasket, no more leaks.

I guess the question to ask is, how old is the gasket? If it is the original one, you might want to replace the gasket. I'm sure you can get one from TSC or AGCO/M-F.

Just be specfic which gas engine you have, though since you have a 1974, I suspect its a Perkins (3-Cylinder) not a Continetal Motors Co. (4-Cylinder) Z134 or Z145 and you can get a replacement assembly from TSC for 20 bucks too.
