Fired up my MH 30 today to take it in to the shop to work on it. Well it went puff, the dip stick went fling and then oil started to puour out of the oil pan. I knew the engine had a bad knock but figures it would run at least long enough to make it 100 feet to the shop. After it did that it just stopped running. I think I know what happen but want to see what you guys think.
Thanks.
By the way I figure it blew.

Sounds like a hole in the poston to me, think that might be a 162 engine, don't remember if they had sleaves or not, but not the end of the world anyway, at best a set back, it happens to all of us.

Oh, I guess maybe even a rod came loose and the poston is in the oil pan, you never now how until you open them up, we finally started to put the massey 20 back together a month ago, got the new rims pounded on the centers welded and riveted on a few weeks ago and got the engine in the frame, the clutch is re built and going on after a few new seals next Saturday, hope to drive it under it's own power next Saturday and then back to work, hope to be done with it this summer. Good luck with this project the 30 is a nice little tractor.

Bad thing is I have a 2N/9N ford in the shop right now I'm tring to finish then this 30 and then when the 30 is done I have a MH 44 to work on. I might get done by this time next year. Nope that will never happen I'll end up with 5 or more before then that need TLC. Just check out the web site off and on and you will keep seeing more stuff

I know exactly what you mean, besides the tractors and machinery, I have a 49 ford pickup that I have still not had time to do anything but order parts for, I want to go through my Farmall A, put a clutch in a Farmall M, along with a belly pump if I had time a web page would be nice to set up, maybe I can talk my sister into doing that for me, hardly have time for anything as it is, and then the ham radio stuff is in there also, was very windy up here today, but came home from work early and went to a friends place and we got some ropes and gin pole rigged at the top of his 100 foot tower with any luck the rotor and 20 foot mast pipe will get lowered next week enought to change out the antenna at the very top, the ones that are easy to get at never have issues, the last time I was up there we had to take a sawzall and cut some bolts off couldn't get them loose, in order to get them I tied off to the mast pipe and stood on the top of the tower and pushed up against my harness and just reached it. My big problem is that my hobbies take more time than a full time job some times, and don't make near enough money, or should I say no money, but then we have fun doing this stuff anyway, at least I am getting to be a better machinist.
