Ok, the tractor runs about 25 psi of oil at wot and about 20 when warm at idle, enough ? Also I did adjust the voltage regulator and got it to about 13 volts is this enough ? Any higher and it jumps to 16 which is too high I think. Also the guy filled it with 10x30 oil now someone told me to use 15w40 which should I use for the summer ? Thanks a bunch guys for all your help I still wonder if the 8N would have been a better unit for me but everyone says the 35 is an all around better tractor, we'll see..

20 psi at hot idle and 25 at wot sounds like good oil pressure. Most Continenetals are consider ok with the hot low idle oil pressure no lower than 15 psi and some guys claim they run as low as 5 psi at low idle. Below 15 psi, however, means excessive bearing clearances.
I don't know what the ambient temperatures are like where you live but I live in Western Montana and I tried 15W40 in my TO-30 and it made for harder winter starting (It still started but is was harder on the starter.) , so I went back to 10W40. You can use SAE30W HD if you wnat to but I like the multi-vis oils and they are easier to find anymore. Whatever you do, don't use non-detergent oils! I'll get some flack for saying that, but you really need the anti-dispersant qualities of detergent oils in your tractor.
Regarding a comparison to the 8N, in my opinion, there's no comparison. The TO-35, especially the DeLuxe version, is a much better tractor than the 8N. Of course opinions are like belly buttons;everybody has one.

this manual I have isn"t too good, lol Should I be using 15W40 oil in the 35 ? And in the manual there is a filter box end that says Fram C3 is this the correct filter. Again he just chgd with 10W30 but I will re change if needed. What brand oil too ? Detergent or Non ? And what is the best manual to buy for maintenace stuff this one is a IT shop manual but it doesn"t tell filter numbers or oil types to use. Thanks againnn...

20 is alright. Napa 1010 gold works for the oil filter. Straight 30 wt. is my preference.
When using the pto, and rpms are up--oil should raise some. I'd run whats in there until next change..... ....when filter shopping, make sure they include the rubber gasket. Comes with the napa 1010. Mark

20 pounds should be plenty. As for oil, I would run 30W oil, but that"s me. I always run a single-grade oil in these older tractors. It helps a little with oil pressure.

Bottom line is, Any oil is better than no oil. We run 15w-40 in all of our tractors, but that's because we buy it in bulk. We used to run 10w-30 in our 165 before we started buying drums, but now it is just easier. You can use 30 wt, 10w-30, 15w-40, or whatever else you buy. Brand doesn't matter, as I'm sure you'rew only going to be using it for small jobs and not too much really hard work, other than maybe plowing a garden or something. That goes for weight too.

You can run anything under the sun in your tractor, cheap stuff or fully synthetic which in your case would be a waste of money and may loosen up some seals and make them leak a little bit more.

Personally, I'd stick with the 10w-30 that's in there and just buy some cheap stuff when you see it. If it has a bit of a knock, (or a tick) a heavier oil some times helps if its more in the top end of the engine, but the tick will still be there.

20-25 lbs is plenty for that old Fergy.
