I looked at a MF65 today. 1958, gas, 3 speed w/ hi & lo, live PTO, 3-pt, power steering, nice Davis loader, no leaks, 48HP, a real dandy. Any help I can get would be great. He's asking $7200. I'd like to know about any typical problems, good points or quirks with these tractors. What questions should I ask the seller? Also, how is the price? I'm sure lots of you guys would say "too high"...but here in Western Washington state this seems to be a pretty good deal. Lots of the stuff for around even $5000 is really in miserable shape. Thanks for the help, and like I said..... ANY info I can get is appreciated. Thanks...Don

G176 engine components can be a little harder to find than the z134 in the MF50. Parts overall are more available and reasonable than other models. $7200 is a little high, but so is everything else in W.WA. Heck, they want $5 for a cup of coffee! Aaron

Condition and hours are much more important than years. Does it have an hourmeter and do you think it is accurate? These Continental gas engines were pretty good but did not have the long life between overhauls that you could get with the Perkins. Does it have the hydraulic capacity to operate the loader at reasonable speed. Some of the older tractors did not have much hydraulic pump capacity and if you have good size lift cylinders it can take a while to lift all the way.

IT does seem high, I just bought a 1974 165 with a decent loader for $7,000 and some guys tell me that is high. But you live in an area where there must be lot of demand for this size tractor and it is expensive to go get a tractor 1,000 miles away even if you can trailer it.

I'd wait and see if someone from your area or Oregon responds, but if you have compared it to other tractors and it seems to have value, that is probably it.
