Hello folks, a man brought me a MF35 Deluxe that he had just bought and says it needs a clutch. I split the tractor and come to find out it had new or rebuilt stuff in it already.
The problem he was having was after the tractor warms up the clutch wont release, and I see the new parts and figure it's an adjustment problem, so I adjust it per the I&T manual, 1" from machined surface on pressure plate to head of bolts where T.O. brg. contacts, .090" PTO disc adj. and 3/4" free play on pedal (well done that after the tractor was back together).
It's still doing the same thing after about 10 minutes I can push the clutch and it may stop or it may not. If it does stop and I sit there a little bit with the clutch depressed it may take a notion and take off.
Dangerous to say the least and got me scratching my head. Sorry for the long post just wanted to paint the whole scenario. Thanks

JC, my Ferguson 35 was doing that. I put it in low gear, then sliped it into low range, pushed in on the clutch and stood up on the brakes with all my weight. It released after about ten feet. If that doesn't work then spray some brake cleaner onto the clutch gear.
later,
Jerry

try this but do not over do it:

point tractor uphill in safe direction, in road gear, get your revs up and slip clutch at grab point, do not overdo this!!!!

this gets everything polished up, you might have clutch with fuzz still on or rough machined surface on the metal faces, sometimes bushhogging won't load the clutch enuf to smooth her out

plowing and such will smooth that facing off real nice

Appreciate the reply, but I tried that several different times for just a few seconds each but it didn't change anything, but that seems like what it needs like the disc is trying to stick for some reason.
