I am working on restoring a 1938 101 standard serial number 355072. it is the 72nd one built. When we got it it had both brake pedals on one side instead of one pedal on each side like the 1938 101's were supposed to be. at first I thought the brakes had been switch over to what was on it, untill I got a 1938 massey harris 101 brochure off ebay. it show all the early 101's in it. All the pictures shown in the brochure had the early 101 hood badges on the front of the hood and the cast brass front grille center. I then began studying the pictures of the standard tractors in the brochure and noticed that the picture shown had the brake shaft running under the frame which means the both brake pedals are both on the right side. like our 1938 101 is. My question is if anybody has any information about early 1938 101's and especially info about the brakes. and if anybody has any massey harris brochures from 1938 I would like to see them and possibly buy them.
also if anybody has a 101 hood badge in any condition I would like to see pictures of it and possibly buy it.
thanks in advance for the information and if anybody could post pictures of their 101's I would like to see them.

I have a 38 101 twin power ser # 355152 and it has a single brake pedal on one side but it operates both brakes together. I also have an early 39 1O1 super 355751 with the same setup. Both tractors are standard. Could individual brakes have been an option? I have seen somewhwere that 1938 row crops had individual brakes with pedals on left and right.
I am also interested to find out more about the 38 hood badge
and the brass grill centre. My 38 has a 2 piece grill center not a single cast piece like the later models. The parts book shows that the two piece was on early 38s and a replacement part came as a one piece.
