Recently I had to put on a new belt which required pulling the front hydraulic pump. Since then my steering at times does not work properly. You can turn the wheel while driving and the wheels do not respond immediately. It will turn but it makes a really wide turn. Any ideas would be appreciated.

You may have air in the system try bleeding it. Bleeding the air out of the power steering system. You always fill the reservoir with the engine running. After you have it full, turn the wheels from stop to stop several times to disperse the air from the system. You may have to fill the reservoir a couple of times if there is a lot of air in the system. This is done with the plug out

Can I use Permatran hydraulic fluid or is there a MF power steering fluid I should use. To bleed it out, just removed the bolt on the right side of the power steering pump?
