I bought a 1964 mf 65 dieselmatic with multi-power. However the linkage to the multipower selector lever was removed. What does the multipower do and how does it work?how do i know if the multipower on my tractor works? how do I know if it is set to high or low, since the linkage has been removed? Is there a neutral position for the multipower, apart from high and low? how do i know when the multipower is working? Can i eliminate the multipower from the tractor or should i attempt to get it repaired if it is not working. Please give me your thoughts on my questions.

I would at least consider getting it working again, I use mine alot. Could be pricey to repair, though, have to split the tractor. There's a small independent pump(as I recall)sitting on top of the main lift pump to engage the multipower clutch.

i have a 35 with multi power also. when i was looking at them i was told that most people remove the rod when they sell it because of the mp leaking (works under pressure when in high range). they put it in low and remove the rod and send it down the line.

Multi-Power is a shift on the go high-low. It does not have a neutral position. It is either high or low. The tractor will free-wheel down hill in low M-P. It may also be difficult to get out of gear in high M-P. The linkage should be connected to a small vertical rod that comes out of the top of the bell housing on the left side. High M-P will not engage if the M-P is not working. Do a little experimenting and let us know what you find.

I have a MF-65 with Multi-power. Is it normal for them to free wheel in low MP range? Would It be better to run in high MP range on down hill slopes?
