I have a 1964 mf 65 dieselmatic....i cannot get it into gear without the gears grinding. if the engine is turned off the gears shift easily. when i depress the clutch all the way down the pto does not stop turning. depressing the the clutch all the way down also does not disengenge the engine. I have to kill the engine to stop the tractor. What can be the problem? Please help.

Might also be the fingers on the presure plate out of adjustment or worn down too bad. If Hilario's idea does not work, you might just take the inspection plate off of the bottom (4 bolts) and look inside & see if you can see any noticable wear on them. Otherwise, you have to split it.

You have the classic stuck cluthc problem. What happens is the flywheel rust a little then the clucth disc sticks to the flywheel. Block/tie the clutch pedel down for a few days. Then if its not loose then start it up in as high a gear as you can and drive it around with the pedel down till it popps loose. Its a very common problem on all tractors. I have one that I keep a cement block on the clutch pedel all the time other then when I'm useing it.
