I recently bought a MF 230 and when I got it home and checked it out more closely I noticed that the fuel gauge is not working. It was on empty and when I added 5 gallons of fuel it did not move. That's how I noticed it was not working. I just thought it was low on fuel. From my past experiences with fuel/gas guages, I suspect it will be something simple. Even if I have to replace the gauge, I need it working. Is there a way to test the one there to see if it is something like a bad or loose wire or should I just replace it? I made a visual inspection and could not see anything loose or separated. Thanks for any help you may provide,
Snowman...

If it is like my 245 you may be able to look in the fill hole and see if the float is actually floating. If not it could be as simple as pulling the sender out of the tank and changing the float. If that's the case you can get the floats at a Ford dealer. They used the same float for years in cars--try a 62 Ford Falcon if the parts guy can't figure it out. The other test would be to ground out the sender and see if that gauge moves. Could be a bad ground.
