Generator replacement?

I have a MF 135 with the Continental 4cyl engine and the wrong generator to run the tractormeter.I haven't had any luck finding the correct gen with the gear set-up on the rear to drive the tach cable.I want to be able to use the Tractormeter so what other options do i have to get this done?Did they ever use an alternator to do the same thing?Thanks.

I just recently ran into the same situation with my Massey 50. I located a parts business in West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma by the name of Mac Tractor Parts(1-800-882-4742). I was able to get the tach drive kit from them. They may be able to help you.

There is a guy selling a setup on eBay to replace the generator with an alternator. Different brackets, wiring, and a one wire alternator. He also sells a kit with a tach drive. It goes for about 169USD. The alternator is a much better option for those that use their tractors regularly and are not concerned with total originality. Paint it Flint Gray and most folks will never see it.

This guy sells conversion kits through eBay. He list that for 30 extra dollars he will include a tach drive. You will have to talk to them about fitment on a 135. I cannot forsee any problems, though. I believe they use the same setup. Aaron
