I'm getting ready to tear down my MF 65 Perkins engine for overhaul. Question is how do I tell from the outside if I have the A4 or AD4 engine regular injection. Injectors are vertical and engine # is 2813290. Tractor is a 1960 sn # 678349. Randy

My IT manual states that the change over took place in 1961, but does not break down on serial number. I am trying to check through the numbers and will write back if I find something positive. AARON

Thanks Aaron and Big Dean. I saw a post from the archive that the A4's were 28XXXXX, but I can't find anything in my Service or Part's manual to verify that.

Randy the regular injection A4-203 will have combustion chamber caps on the left side of the head and the injectors will stand straight up and down. The direct injection AD4-203 will not have the combustion chamber caps and the injector lean out just a little.
