I have a massey harris 50 high crop. It has a 3 point hitch wich means it has a hydraulic pump right? I was just wondering what it takes or if it is posible to run hydraulic lines to the rear to use a hydrualic trailer plow? I dont even know were the pump is on this thing yet so alot of help is needed. Also does anyone think it will have troubles pulling a john deere 3-14 or is there any way i could tell before doing all the work needed to do this if posible? The soils i would use it in are very soft and gravely in one area and kinda sandy with a few dredfull clay spots.

The access to the hydraulics is through that "plate" described in the previous post. A "diverter" mounts there, and oil is then piped (hoses) to the control. From there to the remotes.

TISCO sells a "kit" that will cover all the bases on Massey tractors. I just installed one on a MF 150. (Mine runs a log splitter) It sells for around $400. It includes hoses, fittings, diverter, dual acting valve, remote quick couplers, and some basic instructions. The kit is nice for those of us taht don't understand enough about hydraulic to match all the right parts.

I would recommend doing it right and getting a
3 pt plow. 2 16" would be perfect in a three pt
w/o overloading even though it would pull a three
point 3/14". To use a remote cyl means adding (or
it may already have)a variety of divertor valves
on the plate(w/2 capscrews)ahead of and below the
tractor seat to attach a rear or pair of hoses.
One way cyl(lift only) would be ok with a pull
type plow. The hyd pump(approx 4 GPM)is in the
belly below the tractor seat. A 3 pt plow is not
hard to find and then you would use the full
benefits of the tractor. Chuck

Yes those little Masseys ( 35- 65 etc.) excel with a fully mounted plow, but not so much a trailed. For the price of all that hydraulic set-up I bet you could find a nice little mounted plow for her. Apart from getting the benefit of the tractors draft control,a mounted plow is far handier for transporting down the road, backing into corners etc. etc.
