I have a 59 Massey Ferguson 50, I need to rebuild the engine and replace the governor. If anyone knows the cheapest place to get the parts please let me know. I would like to upgrade the available power to, but not if it is a lot more money. It is a Z134 gasoline engine. Also would like to hear from someone who has done it and let me know what to expect on replacing the sleeves.

I did this about 15 years ago. Got my parts from Central Tractor.I had the clutch relined at a local brake rebuilder.

Pulling the sleeves wasn't bad once I made up a puller. I got a round plate machined to pilot on the bottom of the sleeve, o.d. to clear the sleeve bore as it was pulled up. The pulling part was a piece of 1/2 or so ready rod with a cross bar and spacers placed across the top of the block. All four sleeves came right out, nice as could be.

The replacement sleeves were about1/16 or so oversized.

One thing, be very sure you put that #3 main bearing in the right way.

Other people would probably tell you to check the rocker arms for wear. There's corks that fit in the ends of the rocker shaft. Be sure all that is still sound.

Other than that, it should be straightforward. I've always thought that Z134 was a nice little engine.
