I'm stumped. My 22 runs fine for awhile & then it goes crazy. It doesn't matter if it's hot or cold. I'm sure that it's electrical. Carb is new, fuel lines ok. I've replaced dist cap, points, condenser, rotor, plugs, & plug wires. Timing is fine. Can something short out in the distributor sporadically? I haven't pulled it out yet. That's about the only thing left that I can think of.

Sam,sounds like a coil problem to me.The coil could be breaking down on the inside. Gritty

I forgot to mention that the coil has been replaced with a new one also. I've never experienced a broken valve spring. Could the engine react like this if a bad spring was hitting okay & then coming loose at times? I'm going to get the hood off today & try to check for compression. This engine runs so bizaar. When it's running good, it purrs like a kitten, then all of a sudden it sputters & dies. Then you can start up again & maybe run fine for ten minutes or so, only to go crazy again.
