Is the existing gear worn or don't you have it at all? I think this is the basic Delco distributor and it got used across a lot of different applications. I had a 1963 gas MF 180 that had a Delco 4-cylinder distributor and then years later I had a Larson boat with an OMC sterndrive that used a 4-cylinder GMC gas engine. Same basic distributor although I cannot say that the drive gear would be identical.

My brother-in-law had two gas Super 90s, replaced the engine in one with a Perkins 4-236 diesel from a MF 410 combine. He has the old Continental sitting inside his machine shed in SW Minnesota. If you have a number off of your distributor I can look at his when I go down there next week. I would think that Continental would have the same gear across all models but I am not sure. What year is your 230?

You don't say where you are but there are lots of tractor salvage places you can check on the net. Try Scott Kent at [email protected] or

Is this one with a clip on distributor cap or a screw on one?
