Success. The PTO shaft coupling made the ideal mandrel to tap the bearing back into position and it went in with only minimal coaxing. Apparently, it is an interference fit in the collar. The lift on this tractor worked remarkably well considering all of the things that were wrong with it: Wrong oil, scored cylinder and damaged piston rings, scored pump pistons and chambers, missing piston ring on one pump piston, PTO drive shaft neeedle bearing left in bottom of sump by last mechanic, lift controls misadjusted, etc. Oh, buy the way, while cleaning/flushing the sump I found 8-10 rollers and parts of the broken cage of a differential carrier bearing in the bottom of the differential housing beneath the muck. Apparenetly someone had repaired it long ago but did not bother to remove all of the damaged bearing. Now when my pump parts arrive, I can reassemble the pump, reinstall the lift cover, finalize the lift cover adjustments and this one should be nearly as good as new. Thanks to all who offered advice.
