I have a massey harris 44 gas that needs a complete rebuild. And I was wondering if i found a diesel motor out of another 44 if it would bolt rite up or would all of this just be a big hassle.

Your last two words answer the question:Big Hassle. The O-H on your good block H260 is a sure
thing:GOOD to GO! Healthy Diesels are a hard find,
except in bare bones standard(30" rear wheels),
44's. In a thorough six month search, you might
find a decent diesel engine, in a 44 standard,
no central hydraulics, but new rear tires, you
simply eat. The injector pump is where your hyd
pump is located. The hood, fuel tank different.
The diesel starter wornout,12V Gen/VR tired. You
spend time chasing the wrong part. All this busy
work, for what? The iron is too old, unless you
already have 3 MH's, to refurbish as one. Those
1850 Olivers w/5.9IND. Cummins re-powers, are
brilliant works of art. This is well mapped out by
helpful guys on the Oliver site. To repower a 44,
transfer fuels, a major project, in 2006.

Hi Cumminspower,it should bolt right up but i may be concerned that the transmission would be way too slow for the diesel because they run at way different rpms.Maybe someone may have better advice, but there's mine.It probbably would be cheaper and more origional in the end to rebuild the one you have if possible, best of luck.
