Looks like a 44 to me, look on top of the transmition by the base of the pto lever and you just might find the serial number, then you will know what you have for sure..

A word to the wise--If you are going to use what looks like the PTO post hole digger, rap an innertube tight around that belt pulley and fasten with zip-ties, or take it off. It will fly apart and alltho it is just paper, they hurt. (Not to mention the nails)

The hood line is of a 44 or 44 Spec. Look at the
flat spot on block under the manifold. It should
say HD 260 or HD 277. A 44 is only a HD 260 but
a Spec could be either. The rear portion of the
frame should have a black and silver riveted
plate with model info. The rear portion under-
neath the frame will have a date embossed on it.
The month and year anyway. The wide front is most
likely an aftermarket-I see none in all my 44 books like it-Poss. Schwartz or other. This is a
diesel tractor. The filter may be a fuel filter-
they had different configurations depending on if
two stage or three stage w/ A.P.E inj. pump. Chuck

Yea, I had to really look to see what that was, wonder how it got over to that side of the engine, never saw one on that side on a 44 before, maybe the guy didn't like walking to the other side to change it..

It"s a Massey Harris alright. 30 or 33, I think. I don"t think it"s a 44, the engine looks too short. Does it have a tag that you can post a ser. number? Do some scraping on the paint on the top of tranny by your left foot, if tag can"t be found, ser. number is stamped there somewhere.

Looking a little closer at the sheet metal, I believe it's a 44

Appears to be a 44D High Arch,probably 40K series,
but the front axle is about four years earlier,
the weak steering support was only a short run, as MH offered a complete upgraded concept tubular
WFE. If the disc throttle is original, this 44 is
late '52, or a '53. Front rims from a car, lamp
from a truck(?).

I had a 33 diesel with wfe.. what a welded mess that front end was. The guy who had it before me must not have had a very good supply of steel for patches. He even had a tire iron welded to it to support one break. The upper link for the 3point hitch was laughable, too bad I didn't get any picures of it, It was really funny..
