I am trying to get all the air out of my 1962 MF 35 diesel, i changed the fuel filter and noticed 2 lines coming out of the filter and going to the injector pump, is one of those a return line?? i took the rear one loose and pumped the manual pump a good bit but it would still not wanna run over a few seconds, just wanna make sure i'm bleeding the right one

Hi,
Start from the beginning. Disconnect the plastic pipe at the fuel tap and make sure that you have a good flow. If not, the strainer on top of the tap is likely to be blocked or missing. The tap will be full of debris. If that's OK move to the lift pump. Operate it by hand and you should hear a sort of 'donkey' noise. Most will still work even if you do not have this as fuel will flow with gravity if the valves are worn, but you have no pressure. Undo the 5/8 screw on top of the filter body and vent all air with the manual lever. OK so far?
On the side of the main pump are 2 5/16 screws. Slacken both and vent the system until the air stops and you get a constant dribble or jet of fuel (Stand clear!!!). It saves on battery if you slacken one or two of the pipes at the injectors. Turn the engine over until you see fuel here. Tighten and start. As the engine begins to come to life you will hear the pump 'ticking' and see some smoke and the hopefully Liftoff!!!
