MF-35 Lift Cover Adjustments

Yesterday I removed the lift cover from my MF-35 Deluxe SN 2150003, re-ringed the piston, honed the cylinder, and replaced the relief valve and appropriate O-rings. I'm all finished and ready to reinstal the cover but would like to check all lift cover adjustments first.

I have not been into a Massey lift cover before and do not have a shop manual. Can someone post lift cover adjustment procedures, perhaps copies of the shop manual?

Thanks, in advance.

Dean

my mf-35 wont raise the brush hog as high after it gets warmed up but when cold at first use it lifts really good but after it warms up really good it seems to really slack off

Do you have the right oil in it? It should have 90W mineral oil (GL-1). Oil that is too thin such as regular hydraulic oil can contribute to that problem. As the oil gets hot and thins out more oil will leak through all worn parts.

If you are not using 90W it is much easier to try changing it than it is to repair the worn parts.

Will using regular hydraulic fluid instead of G-1 cause my problem, where it will lift a load, but not as high as it should?

Potentially. Using oil having a lower viscosity than the recommended GL-1 90W will magnify the effect of any existing leak problems resulting from worn or damaged parts. Of course, changing the oil will not repair worn or damaged parts but it may reduct the effects thereof.

Dean, A couple of pages back Mr Big Dean gave you some good answers on your hydraulics. He can also give you a detailed explanation as to how to adjust the linkage. He helped me a lot last year on mine. Regards, Cosmo
