Can anyone tell me what the height of the release fingers should be on a MF with the dual clutch? The tractor I am working on is a 230 but from when I worked at the dealer several years ago we had a guage that we used on all the two stage clutches. Thanks William

Hi,
Yes, you should use the correct gauge whether it is a 11 or 12 inch clutch. As you may recall the legs rest on the inner step of the flywheel. The actual height is not so important.....having them all the same IS! Assuming that the main plate is in good condition and you have no excessive wear in the release lever pivots or any of the linkage points, it can be adjusted as follows. A rough guide to start is to set the release screws ends just flush with the forward face of the levers. If you have a depth gauge, fine, if not it is worth cutting or bending a piece of metal and filing if necessary so that it will make contact with the clutch hub and the head of the domed screw. Once you have chosen a lever to make the gauge for, adjust the other two. Generally the end of the release lever should be about 1" from the clutch plate. Any closer and the levers may foul the plate at the bottom of the second stage.
Good luck
DavidP
