you massey Guy,s ever heard of a 2880 V8?
I think I saw one at the 1977 Tulare Ca farm show,
I was walking up to this display for Massey,
and I saw this Tractor with a V8 diesel in it,
I knew it was a Massey,But It said 190 HP, on the sign in front of tractor,
It,s been awhile since Ive seen anything like this in Massey,s except for the 2805 turbo,
I think It was all red with gold accent,s,and silver wheel,s,
But In not sure since it,s been so long ago,
It may have been a commemortive type tractor
for MF, I dont know?
Just wanted to see if anyone out there remembered one,or ever saw one,
or If that was even the name number on it,

The 2800 came out first and only a couple hundred were made. Then the 2805 came out with changes to the transmission on the power shifts. The 2800 would shift to reverse in intermidiate and you had power shift in reverse. You also had reverse in all 8 gears. The 2805 shifts to reverse in low and you have no power shift. There was also a change in the seals and orings. The 2800 would go as fast in reverse as it would forward.I have the original service manuel for the 2800 which was just copies of pages written for service school before the pubished copies were made. They were not even complete when they were handed out at service school. We had to finish them when we were in class.

2770's and 2800's had only cosmetic differances from the '05 series. Main differance is a steel fuel tank where a 05 would have plastic one.

Any idea how many 2770s and 2800s were made? Anyone ever seen one except in pictures?

I would guess production only numbered in the hundreds. Had a 2805 8sp in the early '90s. There was a 2800 on a farm about 8 miles from me but it had 2805 decals on it.

Your thinking of the 2800 came out before 2805, but basically identical.
