MF 1080 won't work

Our 1080"s 3pt will work for about a minute after startup and then will stop raising and will jump about a 1/4" in one spot. We replaced the piston rings in the pump and couldn"t find anything wrong in the valve assy. The person that is trying to fix it has 30+ years repairing Massey equipment but this one has him stumped.

Thanks in advance
Merle

Hi,
Haven't come across this one in my 30 years with Masseys. I would suggest draining the oil level to just below the bottom bolt on the RH side cover and removing it. Observe the operation of the pump control lever when the quadrant levers are moved. Start the engine and work the system until failure occurs. If the pump lever is moving correctly then the problem will not be in the top side. Operate the pump lever by hand and check operation. If nothing happens I would think that it is likely to be lack of oil getting to the pump. Is your strainer clean? Is there any evidence of the control valve sticking? Is the oscillator connected and working?
Please come back if I can help any more.
