The fuel tank on this had silt-like rusty crud half an inch thick, had clogged the filters... removed and cleaned tank, replaced filters, bled, started, etc. Tractor will run a few minutes, then die down and quit, which is exactly what it did before, which led me to discover the crud in the tank. If I let it sit a few minutes it starts up, runs great, then after a few minutes acts like it's starved for fuel again. Checked supply to injector pump, what else do I look for? Thanks!

Have you checked for fuel flow to the fuel pump? Disconnect the line at the fuel pump coming from the shutoff valve on the tank and see if you have a nice steady stream.

I've had the shutoff valve obstructed so only a dribble came through, and this may be your situation, especially with the crud you mentioned in the tank.

Those shutoff valves originally had a screen on the top - yours may still be there and plugged. Replacements are available, but they don't seem to make a lot of difference if left off. The valve itself can be disassembled and cleaned.

As an aside, those fuel lines are solid steel, and a bugger to connect and disconnect. I cut them all (EXCEPT the high pressure lines going up to the injectors!!!) somewhere near the middle and shoved on a piece of flexible neoprene fuel tubing. Makes them a dream to reconnect; no more stripped threads in the fuel pump or filter housings!

Thanks Jack, I did check the fuel supply right where it goes into the inj pump and it's good. Even tried manually pumping with the lever on the fuel pump. I suspect there's something in the inj pump floating around and at some point (the 'after 3 minutes of running point') it sucks into an orifice or something. I know what you mean about the steel lines. As far as the little screen, I cleaned that when I cleaned the tank, it was pretty clogged. That's why I figured cleaning everything would solve the problem. Hate to pull the inj pump but that seems to be my only option. Nothing else left to clean or check! Thanks again.
